Sure, you will be frightened of moving on; rights of passage are difficult.  When you get to your new city, keep in contact with Mom; arrange to visit home on a regular basis, at the start.  Maybe mom can fit in some visits to you too. Take with you a favourite object. Rubert Bear, for example. :) Our sprog is well on with university studies now, but contact remains regular, even when far away. Skype is brilliant.  &lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
Remember, you won't be the only one feeling as you do.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
Freshers weeks are good for acclimatising to a place, take full advantage of what's on offer.  Join one or two societies of interest to you, not too many.  If you find something else that's appealing and you have the space, you can always add it to your list of activities later on. &lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
I am glad you have a happy base from which to branch out and develop your own life.&lt;br&gt;
